Welcome to "A Little Heat!"

I am a culinary student in her very last semester. For the next six months, I'll be interning at a popular SF spot -- a gig that I have been after since I started school. Before I made the hair-brained decision to become a cook, I graduated with degrees in International Relations and German. I have also been writing short stories, essays and newspaper articles since high school.

So why did it take me so long to begin writing again? Because I have an irrational fear of conformity. As I've told every one of my friends who's encouraged me to start a blog, "Everyone who thinks they can write, already has a spot on the Internet." So, here I am, just another jerk with a laptop, going to culinary school because the economy's tanked (who knew?!).

Hopefully, ladies and gentlemen, you'll happily tag along on my journey as a developing cook. In this blog, I'll catalog my internship, document some adventurous (or stupid) recipes, post pictures from local markets, recount stories from journeys within and beyond the Bay Area, and address any salient food trends and San Francisco happenings with the fumbling, witty commentary only I am capable of. Food is my life, and I want to share it with you.

Please, take a seat.
